As essential as a skincare routine may be, it can sometimes be frustrating to have to work your way through a long list of steps, especially when you’re in a hurry. However, rather than simply skipping out on skincare, here are eight tips from Bionyx that will help you to simplify and speed up your skincare routine.

1) Know Your Skin Type

First things first – make sure that you know your skin type. This may seem like a very basic tip but it’s one that many people stumble over. They may think that they know their skin type but, often, it has been several months, or even years, since they last took some time to properly assess their skin. As a result, their skin type has since changed.

That’s right – your skin type doesn’t always remain the same. Everything from aging to environmental factors can cause it to change. If you end up using products that aren’t suitable for your skin type, you’ll be left dealing with a number of skin concerns. These will only require you to extend your skincare routine even more. The best way to keep your skincare routine short and sweet is to ensure that all of the products you’re applying are suited to your skin’s needs.

Haven’t checked in on your skin type for a while? There’s an easy way to do this. Simply cleanse your skin and then wait for half an hour before taking a close look at your face in the mirror. Excess grease and shine, along with enlarged pores, signify oily skin whereas dryness and roughness are signs of dry skin. A bit of both would mean that your skin type is combination while any redness or irritation points toward sensitive skin. If none of those apply to you, then your skin type is normal.

2) Strip it Back to the Basics

While long, 10-step skincare routines have been all the rage lately, the tide is once again turning. People are now favoring shorter and simplified skincare routines, and dermatologists are passionately backing this up. Why? Because applying fewer products to your skin can actually be far more beneficial than a longer routine. Not only does it force you to focus on your key skin concerns but it also lowers your chances of dealing with irritations and sensitivities.

When it comes down to it, your skincare routine only really needs to consist of around three or four steps. The first should be a cleanser. After all, you should never apply skincare products to dirty skin. Those products won’t be able to penetrate your skin as the layer of dirt, oil, and other impurities on your skin’s surface will be blocking the way. Pick a gentle and moisturizing cleanser, like the Bionyx Rhodium Mousse Cleanser, and you’ll be conditioning your skin while you clean it.

A serum would be an optional next step, followed by a moisturizer – another essential. Ideally, choose a moisturizer that hydrates your skin while also providing it with plenty of antioxidants, just like the Bionyx Platinum Transformative Cream.

The final step should be SPF, which we’re about to discuss in more detail…

3) Wear SPF Now to Save Time in the Future

When it’s cloudy and dull outside and you’re trying to speed through your skincare routine as quickly as possible, you may be tempted to skip the SPF. After all, when you can’t see much sun in the sky, surely this means that your skin is safe from UV damage?

Unfortunately, no. UV rays are always around, even if the sun isn’t showing its face. Ask any dermatologist and they’ll agree that SPF should be worn year-round. Sure, this may mean tacking on an extra step to your skincare routine. However, in the long run, this will end up saving you so much time.

How? Because the sun is responsible for so many of the skin concerns that people experience. From redness and inflammation to wrinkles, dark spots, sagging skin, and, of course, skin cancer, all of these issues take time, as well as specialized products, to treat. Save your skin from having to deal with them and you’ll also be saving yourself from needing to extend your skincare routine once the accumulation of sun damage starts to take its toll.

4) Consider Skipping the Cleanser in the Mornings

We mentioned earlier that cleansing is an extremely important first step of any skincare routine. So, why are we now suggesting that you skip the cleanser in the mornings?

Well, cleansing doesn’t necessarily need to be done with a cleanser. Sometimes, splashing your face with water will be sufficient if there isn’t much dirt or sebum lingering on your skin. However, this means thoroughly cleansing your skin the night before. You may even want to do a double cleanse to ensure that no traces of impurities have been left behind.

You’ll then need to make sure that your pillowcases have been freshly cleaned too. This will stop any leftover sebum or dead skin on your pillowcase from transferring over onto your face while you sleep.

If you follow those steps, then this means that your skin will still be relatively clean come morning. So long as your skin type isn’t oily (in which case you may need a cleanser to remove all of the excess sebum that your skin has produced overnight), you may be able to get away with just using water in the morning. This will save you a minute or so in your skincare routine.

5) Choose Multi-Purpose Skincare Products

Alloy Platinum Synergizing Serum

Earlier, we featured our Platinum Transformative Cream and told you how it hydrates while also providing plenty of antioxidants. This enables it to help with a variety of skin concerns, from the appearance of wrinkles to the visibility of dark spots. These are the types of products that you need to be using if you want a quick skincare routine – multi-purpose formulas that will help you to tackle a range of skin problems with just one single product.

The good news is that there are plenty of these multi-purpose products around to choose from. The Bionyx Alloy Platinum Synergizing Serum is another example. This serum contains a clever blend of ingredients. Sodium hyaluronate, collagen, and glycerin have moisture-binding properties that hydrate the skin. The peptides in the formula do the same. These also help to leave the skin barrier feeling stronger and better supported. Meanwhile, the vitamin C in this serum will work on various visible skin concerns. Vitamin C is a powerful multi-tasking ingredient that will tighten, brighten, and revive the look of your skin.

As a result, this one serum, which only takes a few seconds to apply, can have a truly transformational effect on your overall complexion. Fill your skincare routine with products like these and you’ll be able to save time while still giving your skin all that it needs to thrive.

6) Figure Out Ways to Multi-Task

Platinum Transformative Thermal Mask

There’s nothing wrong with setting aside a chunk of time twice a day to focus solely on your skin. However, if you’re struggling to find enough minutes in the day for this, there’s nothing wrong with incorporating your skincare into other areas of your daily routine to make life a little more convenient.

Say, for example, you want to use a face mask. However, you don’t have 15 minutes to spare to wait for your mask to kick into action before it’s rinsed off. One way to get around this would be to apply your mask before moving on to another task that takes 10-15 minutes. Whether this means doing the dishes, putting a load of laundry on, or doing some meal prep, all of these tasks can be done while you have a mask on your face. Clay masks lend themselves particularly well to this. You won’t have to worry about the mask moving or sliding off while you go about your other chores.

7) Lay Your Products Out for Easy Access

Being organized is always a great way to save time, and this applies to your skincare routine too. If your skincare products are currently haphazardly stored in a cupboard, having to rummage around to find each product that you need will only end up wasting precious minutes.

Instead, organize your skincare to allow for easy access. Lay out the essential products that you apply each day, ideally in order of use. Next to these, line up all of the ‘extras’, such as toners, serums, masks, and other products that you can turn to when you have a bit more time to spare.

This would also be a good time to throw out any old or expired products. Sure, it can sometimes be tempting to hang on to these. However, in the long run, you won’t be doing your skin any favors. Not only do most skincare ingredients become less effective over time, especially if the product has already been opened, but some can oxidize in a way that actually harms your skin cells.

8) Save Time Shopping With Skincare Sets

Body Care

Want to save a bit of time when shopping for new products for your skincare routine? One way to do this is by purchasing skincare sets instead of individual products.

Take the Bionyx Rhodium Set as an example. This set consists of three products; a cleanser, a day cream, and a night cream. With this trio, you’ll have two of the three basics that you need to use each day/night. All you’ll need to do is add in a sunscreen for daytime use and, just like that, you’ll have a ready-made skincare routine.

The Bionyx Body Care Set offers the same convenience for the skin on your body. With a body scrub, body butter, and body lotion, it encompasses the main products that you’ll need to ensure that your skin feels soft and smooth from your chest down.

Summary

There’s definitely nothing wrong with spending lots of time on your skin. However, it’s also understandable if you sometimes need to speed things up. Follow the tips above and not only will your skincare routine be easier and quicker to follow but you’ll still be able to cater to your skin’s needs in a way that ensures a beautiful radiant glow!
