When it comes to keeping your complexion soft and dewy, a good moisturizer is a must. However, sometimes, this isn’t enough…
If you know that you’re using a high-quality moisturizer but can’t figure out why you’re struggling to achieve perfectly moisturized skin, then you may need to make some adjustments to both your skincare routine and your lifestyle.
Read on as Bionyx explains how to ensure deeply moisturized skin at all times.
It all Begins With a Cleanser
If you haven’t been properly cleansing before applying a moisturizer, then this could be why your skin doesn’t feel moisturized.
A cleanser is vital for removing all of the dirt, pollutants, and other impurities that sit over the top of your skin. These block your skincare products, including your moisturizer, from delving into your skin. As a result, your moisturizer won’t be able to actually moisturize.
That said, over-cleansing may be your issue instead. Using a cleanser that’s too harsh, or using a cleanser too often, will leave your skin stripped and overly dry. Consequently, no matter how good your moisturizer may be, it won’t be able to leave you with perfectly moisturized skin, as it will need to compensate for all of that extra dryness.
While this may make cleansing sound complicated, it doesn’t need to be, especially if you turn to our Rhodium Mousse Cleanser. Its efficient cleansing agents are derived from coconuts, saving your skin from harsh chemicals. At the same time, it’s infused with multiple hydrating ingredients to leave your appearance plump, soft, and refreshed.
Add a Toner to Your Routine
Although a toner isn’t as essential a step in your routine as a moisturizer, it can still help to take you from parched, poorly moisturized skin to a complexion that looks luminous and glowy.
How?
Some toners, such as our Rhodium Facial Toner, are designed to deliver an additional dose of moisture to thirsty skin. With sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, and vitamin B3, this Bionyx toner will plump up your complexion.
Even more importantly, a toner is helpful when it comes to removing any residue that your cleanser may have left behind. It’ll also leave your skin feeling even more receptive to any other products/ingredients you subsequently apply.
Make Sure That Your Moisturizer is Suited to Your Skin
It doesn’t matter how many powerful ingredients your moisturizer may contain – if it isn’t suited to your skin type and skin concerns, then it’s not going to give you moisturized skin.
For example, if you have dry skin, then you need a moisturizer that’s going to be extra rich in moisturizing compounds, such as the Bionyx Rhodium Essential Day Cream. Infused with shea butter, hydrolyzed oat protein, sunflower oil, glycerin, and colloidal platinum, this cream will not only quench the feeling of super thirsty skin, but it’ll add a layer of dewy luminescence to your appearance as well.
On the other hand, if your skin tends to look greasy and shiny rather than softly moisturized, try our Platinum Transformative Cream. It boasts witch hazel to reduce the look of shine, licorice root extract to brighten your complexion, and peptides and humectants to provide lightweight moisture that won’t clog your pores. Instead, you’ll be left with beautifully moisturized skin.
If your visible skin concerns are related to aging rather than dryness or oiliness, then turn to the Bionyx BioLift Platinum Deep Wrinkle Concentrate. Not only will this exquisite formula give you intensely moisturized skin, but it’ll also reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. It contains vitamins A, C, and E to tackle the look of aging, plus sodium hyaluronate and colloidal platinum to boost your complexion’s moisture content.
Use a Dedicated Night Cream in the Evenings
Your skin’s needs at night are different from those during the day. In the daytime, your skin needs a cream that’ll leave it feeling protected when dealing with environmental aggressors. However, in the PM, your skin would benefit from a formula that deeply moisturizes and encourages a more rejuvenated look.
Although a day cream will still moisturize your skin at night, it won’t do this as effectively as a night cream would.
This is where our Rhodium Night Recovery Cream is such a game-changer. It contains a rich concoction of ingredients that’ll restore your complexion while you sleep. In the morning, you’ll wake up to bright, radiant, and deeply moisturized skin.
Invest in a Moisturizing Serum
Most people tend to choose serums that target specific skin concerns, such as the appearance of wrinkles or dark spots. However, some serum formulas can be incredibly moisturizing too.
The Alloy Platinum Synergizing Serum is the perfect example. We’ve formulated it with a blend of peptides – ingredients revered for how they provide perfectly moisturized skin without being too heavy. We also added in several humectants, including sodium hyaluronate and glycerin. These are ingredients with moisture-binding properties, meaning that they’ll leave your skin cells looking plump and full.
The great thing about this serum is that it can help people with both dry and oily skin types achieve perfectly moisturized skin.
How?
Well, if you have dry skin, layer this serum underneath your moisturizer. It’ll give your complexion the extra boost of moisture that it needs.
However, if you have oily skin, you may get away with using the serum instead of a moisturizer. This is especially the case in the summer months, when the skin naturally produces more sebum.
Try Applying Your Moisturizer Onto Damp Skin
One skincare hack loved by the pros is applying moisturizer onto damp skin. Whether the skin is damp from water or from a toner, this simple trick could give you the glowing, moisturized skin that you’ve been dreaming of.
How does this work?
It all comes down to how a moisturizer functions. While moisturizers do provide your skin with additional moisture, they also form a seal over the surface of your skin. This prevents the moisture (as well as the other ingredients that you’ve already applied) that’s already in your skin from evaporating.
If your skin is damp, then this means that there are extra water molecules sitting on its surface. Layering a moisturizer traps them beneath, preventing them from evaporating into the air. Instead, they’re pushed deep into your skin to leave it looking soft, supple, and dewy.
Try Out Different Moisturizing Face Masks
We’ve discussed how toners, serums, and moisturizers can all help when it comes to achieving moisturized skin, but let’s not forget about face masks!
Moisturizing masks are a great way to give your skin an extra dose of intense moisture. While the visible effects of a moisturizing mask are most apparent immediately after use, a good mask will continue to enhance your complexion for several days to come.
One of our favorite moisturizing masks is the Alloy Magnetic Synergy Mask. If you’ve used a magnetic mask before, you’ll already know how moisturizing they can be. If you haven’t, your skin is in for a treat!
We’ve infused this mask with a rich blend of moisturizing botanical oils. From baobab to hemp seed to marula, these oils are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins that will plump up and illuminate your appearance.
This mask also contains meteorite powder and diamond powder to give your complexion an instant glow, plus our signature ingredient; colloidal platinum. This superstar will help to reduce the visible signs of skin aging while giving your skin a bouncy, moisturized finish.
Even better, magnetic masks are easy to apply. Spread an even layer across your skin and then relax and de-stress for 10-15 minutes. Then, hover the provided magnet over your face to literally lift the mask off your skin. It’ll leave behind a hydrating serum that you can massage into your skin for extra moisture.
Turn the Temperature Down in the Shower
While we can totally relate to that satisfying feeling a steamy hot shower provides, those high temperatures aren’t doing your skin any favors.
Instead, all of that hot water is stripping your skin of its natural oils. These are the oils that your skin needs in order to keep itself moisturized. Sure, applying a moisturizer over the top helps to counter that extra dryness, but turning the dial down to lukewarm will leave you with skin that’s so much more moisturized.
The same applies to the temperature of the water that you use when cleansing your face. Ideally, try to keep this as cool as you can handle. It may not be as comfortable, but your skin will thank you!
Drink Plenty of Water
While increasing your water intake isn’t going to immediately give you perfectly moisturized skin, it will definitely help in the long run.
Research shows that drinking the recommended amount of water each day helps to thicken and plump up the look of the skin’s dermal layer. This enables it to do a better job when it comes to moisture retention, which is exactly what you need for moisturized skin.
If you’re struggling to drink your eight glasses a day, don’t forget that herbal teas also contribute to your daily totals. Water-rich foods, such as cucumbers and strawberries, help as well. They, along with herbal teas, also provide your body with extra antioxidants that your skin can then use to keep itself looking and feeling healthy.
Invest in a Humidifier
Ideally, the humidity level in your home should be sitting somewhere between 40-50%. This is what your skin needs in order to keep itself moisturized. Anything lower than this will cause the moisture in your skin to evaporate at a much faster rate, leaving it dry.
Unfortunately, indoor humidity tends to be much lower than the recommended 40-50%. It can commonly fall below 30%, especially in the winter when indoor heating systems are running.
This is where a humidifier comes in. These handy little machines are designed to increase a room’s humidity. Most humidifiers enable you to set a chosen humidity level. This means that you can pick one that’s perfectly suited to your skin.
In an ideal world, we would have a humidifier in each and every room that needs it. However, if you have to pick one room in your home for your humidifier to live in, make it your bedroom.
Why? Because your skin loses moisture at a particularly rapid rate while you sleep. Turning a humidifier on will prevent this, allowing you to wake up to skin that looks moisturized and fresh.
